We present our new awareness course: Data Protection in the Hotel Industry
Author
Carolin AndreeThe GDPR has created a basis that subjects the level of data protection of personal data throughout Europe to fundamental protection. In principle, every person should be able to determine for themselves whether and which personal data of theirs are processed.
Due to the particularly sensitive data handled within it, the hotel industry has recently come into the spotlight with talks of sanctions from data protection authorities.
During a stay in a hotel, guests must provide a lot of information about their data, some of which is very personal. Information about a person’s health status is considered particularly sensitive personal data by the General Data Protection Regulation. Hoteliers are therefore faced with a unique challenge. Procedures and processes must be regulated and implemented in compliance with the law. This circumstance is only possible if employees know the requirements and follow them on a daily basis.
What does our new awareness course offer?
In addition to topics such as details about personal data on the registration form, video surveillance, collection of data from children and rights of data subjects, our course prepares employees working in the hotel industry for the challenges in data protection. Raising data protection awareness within this industry is incredibly important because misjudgements or violations can have drastic consequences.
Employees will learn:
- In general, what the General Data Protection Regulation is,
- where lies the difference between personal and particularly sensitive personal data,
- how requests for information can be received,
- what a data breach is and what it can mean for employees
- who the responsible persons for data protection compliance are,
- helpful, practical tips,
- and much more...
Our Data Protection in the Hotel Industry awareness course lasts approximately 80 minutes and can be completed independent of time and location. After completing all the modules, the course ends with a final exam and a verified attendance certificate.
